Vanessa Van Dyke, MA, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
It seems that living with a sense of purpose, believing that we each hold a unique space in the world, and that our voice matters is increasingly difficult. As a counselor, it is the great joy of my life to walk with individuals as they (re)discover these truths. My style is truthful, down to earth, and casual, and my hope is that you feel comfortable and valued whenever we’re together. I work with clients with any number of struggles, including shame, depression, trauma, anxiety, and anger. I am especially intrigued by the interplay between body/mind/spirit in the healing process. I am also passionate about joining with individuals who feel marginalized and excluded from relationship and community, often due to issues such as abuse, sexual and gender identity struggles, crisis of faith, singleness, and body shame. What happens in the counseling space is as unique as the clients themselves – I am experienced in using trauma-informed somatic/sensorimotor, cognitive, psychodynamic, gestalt, and internal family systems interventions.
I am an independently licensed counselor (LPC), and I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling from Ottawa University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Christian Counseling from Phoenix Seminary. I have experience working in private practice, community mental health, and psychiatric hospitals. I’ve also been an adjunct instructor at Arizona Christian University and Phoenix Seminary. In a previous life, I also worked for a non-profit ministry that served college students, preparing them to serve overseas amongst the marginalized and poor, and during that time got to spend significant time traveling internationally. If you’re looking for a space in which to work safely and creatively through pain and difficulties, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
