Expressive Art: How Creativity Helps in Therapy

  • Journeys Counseling Center 6515 S. Rural Rd, Suite 101 Tempe AZ 85283 USA (map)

Building Blocks are educational classes for adults (18+) looking for practical ways to create positive change in every area of life. A licensed therapist will present the latest research on a given topic and will provide participants with different skills and techniques that can be easily integrated into everyday life. Each group has room for 8-10 adults. Coffee, tea, and snacks provided.

Join Noel D'Avy, LAC, as she talks about the benefits of Art Therapy.

  • How is Art Therapy different than Expressive Art Therapy? What if I am not "artistic"? Can expressive art therapy benefit me?

    • How does Art help me process emotions/thoughts?

    • How can I use Art for self-care?

  • This will be an experiential workshop to give you a taste of what it is like to explore your creative side and how it can be helpful in therapy.  We will look at ways to identify creative resources that you already have and how they can be used in therapy.

"Visual thinking is our ability and tendency to organize our feelings and thoughts, and perceptions about the world around us through images."

"Art therapy asks you to explore your inner experience--your feelings, perceptions, and imagination."
