Missionary Readiness, Ministry Burnout, & Preventative Care

Many of our faith-based clients have decided to take the next step in their spiritual journey by traveling to other countries on short-term or long-term missionary trips or investing in a local ministry or church. These transitions can be particularly difficult on a family system, and we believe it is important to prepare for these experiences by taking a personal inventory of spiritual, emotional, and physical health.

Through our integrative experiences and training, many of us have a particular interest in assisting missionaries and ministry and church leaders with preparation, transition, and ongoing support. We also believe that caretakers and those living a life of service to others have unique needs. Oftentimes, these needs go unrecognized, creating the potential for burnout, behavior changes, or other acting out.

Depending on your situation, you may benefit from seeking professional services with a psychologist, counselor, or pastor.

When to Seek Support:

  • Individuals or families preparing to move overseas
  • Concern about boundaries in a ministry setting
  • Feeling stressed and irritated about your ministry job
  • Understanding your plan for mental health care in a foreign country
  • Dealing with past issues, such as trauma and abuse, in preparation for work with others
